Thiel 66, Waynesburg 48

GREENVILLE, PA.

Blair Rozenblad had his sixth double-double of the season with a 16 point, 17 rebound effort. The win gave the Tomcats (12-4, 8-1 Presidents’ Athletic Conference) 17 straight home wins and their seventh straight over Waynesburg. Chace McKinney added 11 points, while Devon Adams had 10. Waynesburg (4-14, 1-8 PAC) had 12 of 14 players score with Jason Probst leading with eight points. Thiel used an 18-7 run to push out to a 20-point lead, 52-32, with 8:39 to play and watched its lead grow to as many as 23 before securing the 18-point victory.

Mount Union 48, Otterbein 44

WESTERVILLE

Freshman Nate Jacubec (Struthers) had 15 first-half points on his way to a career-high 21 for Mount Union. Jimmy Wood added 10 points, as they were the only two Purple Raiders that scored more than four points.. Mount Union (8-9, 4-6 Ohio Athletic Conference) held the Cardinals to a season-low 44 points, which is 16 fewer than their previous low. Mount Union’s defense caused Otterbein to shoot just 34.1-percent from the field (14-of-41) and 6.3-percent on three-pointers (1-of-16). RaNeal Ewing came off the bench to score a team-best 12 points for Otterbein. Brice Rausch added 11 points and Chris Davis, the conference’s sixth-leading scorer, had just eight points and 12 rebounds. The Purple Raiders have held three of their last four opponents under 50 points.

Allegheny 64, Denison 62

GRANVILLE

Led by Devone McLeod’s 11, eight Allegheny players scored at least six points, including David DiBernardi (Boardman). McLeod scored the eventual game-winner with a basket in the paint, while Clark Tritto authored the end-game heroics with a steal with four seconds left in regulation. Dimonde Hale scored a game-high 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting to lead Denison. The score was tied eight times, while the lead changed a whopping 20 times.

Hiram 65, Wittenberg 51

HIRAM

Jamaal Watkins had a game-high 22 points leading Hiram (11-6, 4-4 North Coast Athletic Conference). Alan Sheppard added 17 points and Andrew Wiegand had 14 along with 10 rebounds. Josh McKee led No. 21 Wittenberg (13-4, 7-1) with 15 points. Wittenberg pulled to within eight on a pair of free-throws, trailing 57-49 with 1:58 to go. But that would be as close as the Tigers would get as the Terriers went on an 8-2 run to end the game. Hiram shot 41.4 percent from the field (24-of-58), including eight-of-17 (47.1 percent) from behind the arc and 81.8 percent (nine-of-11) at the charity stripe.

Saint Vincent 79, Westminster 47

LATROBE, PA.

Saint Vincent conducted runs of 8-0, 13-2, 7-0, and 6-0 to stay third in the PAC standings. Adam Carswell led the Titans with 12 points. Junior Doug Smith added seven points, while Reuben King and sophomore Kendall Hunter each added six. Saint Vincent’s Dillion Stith had a game-high 13 points, while Ralph Nin grabbed a game-high six rebounds. The Bearcats outshot the Titans 53.4 percent (31-for-58) to 33.3 percent (17-for-51) and dominated the glass with a 42-26 rebound advantage.

Bethany 78, Grove City 57

BETHANY, W.VA.

James Barton led Bethany with 20 points while Nick Wilcox added 15 for Bethany (16-2, 8-1 PAC). Christian Durbin had 14 points for Grove City (7-10, 3-6 PAC). The Bison led by 10 at halftime and extended their lead with a 24-5 run midway through the second half. Grove City shot just 9 for 31 (29 percent) from the floor in the second half. For the game, the Wolverines went 19 for 58 (33 percent). Bethany shot 46 percent (26 of 57) from the field.

WOMEN

Mount Union 76, Otterbein 50

ALLIANCE

No. 9 Mount Union (16-1, 9-1 OAC) avenged its earlier season loss to Otterbein (13-4, 7-3 OAC) behind 14 points from Rosa LaMattina. Amanda Rose added 10 points and seven rebounds. Kristi Kotterman was the only Cardinal in double figures as they were held to their lowest point total of the season.

Bethany 67, Grove City 61

BETHANY W.VA.

Bethany (10-7, 6-4 PAC) used a 17-5 run to start the second half to put away the Wolverines. Kelsey Shirley, Megan Gebrosky and Leah Gibson all scored in double figures for Grove City (4-13, 3-7 PAC). Audra Droginske led the Bison with 22 points. Grove City shot just 9 for 31 (29 percent) from the floor in the second half. For the game, the Wolverines went 19 for 58 (33 percent). Bethany shot 46 percent (26 of 57) from the field.

Edinboro 68, Slippery Rock 37

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.

Slippery Rock led for the first six-and-a-half minutes and trailed by seven at half time to No. 3 Edinboro (16-0, 12-0 PSAC). Samantha Blazetic led the Lady Scots with 18 points and nine rebounds. For Slippery Rock (5-11, 2-10) Danielle Smith had 14 points and seven rebounds as D’Asia Chambers added seven points off the bench. Edinboro out-rebounded SRU 40-27.

Saint Vincent 66, Westminster 44

LATROBE, PA.

Brittany Sedlock had a game-high 17 points, while Emily Fenton added 16 for Saint. Vincent (14-3, 9-1 PAC). Courtney Zitt led Westminster with 11 points and Emily Dolsak (McDonald) grabbed six rebounds. The Bearcats started strong and capped an 8-0 run in the first two minutes of the game and held a commanding 40-13 halftime lead. Saint Vincent captured its highest lead of the game up 55-23 in the second half after an Ariel Rocco jumper. Westminster (4-12, 4-6 PAC) was outshot 39.3% (22-for-56) to 30.8% (16-for-52). The Bearcats also outrebounded the Titans 42-33.

Thiel 64, Waynesburg 62

GREENVILLE, PA.

Kelly Barzak (Howland) led Thiel (5-12, 5-5 PAC) with a game-high 17 points to go with eight rebounds and two blocks. Rianne Thornton added 10 points as the Tomcats overcame a 10-point halftime deficit. Hannah Hunter had 16 points for Waynesburg (13-4, 8-2 PAC).
