Nominations sought for ATHENA award

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, The Vindicator and Vindy.com are seeking nominations for the 2012 ATHENA Award.

The award is presented annually to recognize area business and professional women who meet these criteria: business and professional achievements, community service and support for professional women.

The recipient, along with all nominees, will be honored at the 20th annual ATHENA Award dinner May 24 at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman. Nominations must be submitted by March 1.

Nominees are not required to be a member of the chamber or be employed by a chamber member. Candidates may self-nominate. Past ATHENA nominees are also eligible.

Keynote speaker for the awards dinner will be Annika Sorenstam, 41, widely regarded as the greatest female golfer of this generation. She won 72 Ladies Professional Golf Association events — including 10 majors — during her 15-year career. She is married to Mike McGee, an East Palestine native.
