The First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown will present a panel of young adults, 18 to 40 years old from churches in the Diocese of Youngstown, who will share ideas on how to be connected to the church.

Blessing of Waters

The Rev. Andrew Gall, along with other pastors of Orthodox churches in the Shenango Valley, will conduct a Blessing of the Waters service at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Shenango River by Huntington Bank downtown.

After the service, there will be refreshments at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 389 Clark St.

The service recognizes the Julian “old” calendar date of Epiphany.

Panel discussion

The Sister-to-Sister Mentoring Ministry of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church will sponsor a panel discussion on the theme “Christian Women Building Genuine Relationships … Part II” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 11 at The Georgetown, 5945 South Ave.

Panelists will be Thais Davidson of Friendship Baptist in Girard, Rozalyn Donaldson of Rising Star Baptist Church, evangelist Sherry Robinson of Heavenly Place Church of God in Christ, Ashley Williams of Pilgrim Baptist and family therapist Dr. Kellie Kirksey.

Dinner and service

Liberty

An Israeli dinner and musical Shabbat service are planned at 6 p.m. Feb. 3 at Temple El Emeth, 397 Logan Way.

Guest chefs, Noam Weinstein and Or Bass, will prepare the dinner. The cost is $10 for adults, $6 for children from 6 to 12 years old and 5 and younger, free.

Reservations must be made by Feb. 1.

Praise celebration

Bishop David L. Herron Sr. and the Monument of Faith Church of God in Christ, 2165 Highland Ave., will host a paise celebration, “Setting off 2012 with Praise and Worship,” at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Special guests will be Marsha Parker, For Grace missionary; God’s Chosen Children, Monument’s Bishop’s Choir and fine arts department, Men of Valore and the Rev. Michael Herron, Ohio Central East Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction organist.

Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, will sponsor “UpBuilding Weekend” next weekend with Ron Rand, founder and director of UpBuilding Ministries.

“The Blessings of Being Chronologically Enhanced” for retirees and senior citizens, will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Jan. 28 programs will be “Becoming A Man After The Heart of God” from 8 to 11 a.m. Jan. 28 including a continental breakfast for men and male teens; “Let’s Go Fishin’! Becoming A Praying Congregation” for those with a calling for prayer or evangelism from 1 to 3 p.m.; and “Love, Marriage and Sex” for married and engaged couples from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with a catered dinner. The cost is $15 per couple; childcare is available.

“The Power of Forgiveness” will be addressed at Sunday School from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Jan. 29 for junior high to adults. Worship will be at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m.
