Boo! Phantoms fall in overtime

DES MOINES, IOWA

The Des Moines Buccaneers’ Gasper Kopitar was anything but a friendly host to the Youngstown Phantoms on Friday.

Kopitar scored both goals as the Buccaneers extended the Phantoms’ losing streak to four games with a 2-1 overtime victory.

Kopitar’s second goal came with 19 seconds remaining in the extra session. Garrett Allen assisted.

Kopitar’s first tally came midway through the second period and was set up by Cal Decowski.

Sam Anas’ unassisted power-play goal late in the first period gave the Phantoms a 1-0 lead.

Des Moines outshot Youngstown, 34-33. The Phantoms’ Matthew O’Connor and the Buccaneers’ Jason Kasdorf each stopped 32 shots.

The Phantoms went one-for-four with the man-advantage and stopped both of the Buccaneers’ power-play chances.
