Sharon Regional names tech center

SHARON, PA.

The Sharon Regional Health System board of directors has named the new Technology Center at the LindenPointe Innovative Business Campus in Hermitage the James E. Feeney Technology Center in honor of Feeney’s 34 years of service on the board, including 15 years as board chairman.

A number of community business leaders attended an open house of the new center Tuesday, where Sharon Regional representatives officially dedicated the building.

The 5000-square-foot James E. Feeney Technology Center will house all the health system’s informational technology components from the main Sharon campus as well as its 21 satellite locations and physician offices.

The center features the most-advanced equipment and technology available for electronic medical records, data storage, and other information technology applications, health system officials said in a press release.

Feeney worked for 41 years at Wheatland Tube, retiring as chief operating officer in 2001. He was elected to the board of Sharon Regional in 1977 and named board chairman in 1996.

During his years as chairman, Feeney guided Sharon Regional through a number of expansion projects and implementation of new services, including the renovation of the Emergency Care Center and Women’s Center; the establishment of an open-heart surgery program; the construction of the new outpatient Behavioral Health Services and Diagnostic & Imaging centers in Hermitage; the expansion into northeast Ohio through the opening of the Hubbard Diagnostic & Specialty Center and Liberty Family Medicine Center; and a $4.6 million expansion/renovation of the Cancer Care Center in Hermitage.

The new center was made possible through the awarding of a $1 million grant from Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program to the city of Hermitage to be used for the center’s construction.

In addition, the proximity of the new Technology Center to the Training and Workforce Development Center at LindenPointe will enable Sharon Regional to take advantage of all the training facilities and programs that will be available in that location, health system officials added.
