High-speed chase

CAMPBELL

Police chased a man at speeds that reached 100 mph after he fled a traffic stop.

Police said Timothy Lamar Arroyo, 27, of New Castle, Pa., fled after an officer asked if he could search Arroyo’s car as part of “drug and gun interdiction.” The officer had stopped Arroyo at 6 p.m. Monday at the intersection of McCartney Road and state Route 616 after he saw Arroyo weaving, the police report says.

Two officers began to chase Arroyo east on U.S. Route 422 toward Pennsylvania and saw him speeding and weaving around cars.

Police report their speed reached 100 mph before they slowed down because of wet roads and the fact that Arroyo had a passenger in his car. The pursuit would have been a danger to the passenger and others on the road, police said.

Arroyo’s license and vehicle registration was logged as evidence, and police filed a traffic citation listing charges of failure to comply with a police order, obstructing official business and failure to control.
