Youngstown

The LaBrae Vikings have run through the first half of the boys basketball season — literally.

The Vikings are unbeaten through 12 games, averaging more than 67 points per game, one of the top marks in the area. LaBrae’s average margin of victory is 28 points.

Today at 3 p.m., the Vikings should get a test from Hickory (7-3) in the third game of the See Them Rise Basketball Classic at the Covelli Centre.

The Hornets are averaging 59 points per game this season, but have scored at least 68 points in five of their games.

The event, sponsored by the Tony Lariccia family, will feature four boys varsity games that pit Ohio teams against Western Pa. squads.

The last three games will be televised live on MyYTV, starting with the LaBrae-Hickory contest.

The day will begin with a pair of Parochial League games at 11 a.m., then the varsity squads will take over at 1 p.m.

The first game will feature Campbell Memorial (2-8) against George Junior Republic (5-4), followed by LaBrae-Hickory.

At 5 p.m., Struthers (9-2) will play Erie Strong Vincent (6-4), then Ursuline (6-4) will take on Sharon (5-4) in the final game at 7 p.m.

Special entertainment by cheer and dance squads and youth basketball teams will take place between the games and at halftime.

Tickets are $7 and available at the gate. One ticket is good for all four varsity games. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. for the Parochial League games and 12:30 p.m. for the varsity games.
