Canfield swim squads sweep

Canfield swept the All-American Conference swim meet championships hosted by Hubbard on Saturday.
The Cardinals won the boys championship with 512 points. Beaver Local was second with 328, followed by Jefferson Area (284), Hubbard (217), Poland (186) and Austintown Fitch (20).
In the girls division, Canfield scored 488 points to Hubbard’s 325. Poland was third (322), followed by Beaver Local (191), Jefferson Area (153) and Fitch (57).
Connor Brady and Daniel Bogan of Canfield each won two individual events. Brady won the 100-yard butterfly in 54.43 seconds (a meet record) and the 100 back in 58.44, also a meet record.
Bogen won the 100 free in 59.79 and the 200 free is 1:54.89, both in meet-record time.
Canfield’s Mark Dalvin won the 50 free (23.40), Drew Bennett the 500 free in 5:10.67, Jake Smith the 100 breast in 1:08.58 and Kyle Anderson the 200 individual medley in 2:11.58. Dalvin and Bennett won in meet-record times.
Canfield also swept the relays. The 200 medley relay of Adam Weiss, Smith, Brady and Michael DiDomenico won in 1:49.28; the 200 free relay of Brady, Bogen, Smith and Dalvin won in 1:33.37, and 400 free relay of Dalvin, Mike Cardone, DiDomenico and Bogen won in 3:27.54.
In the girls races, Canfield’s Sarah Heaven, Mallory Allen and Olivia Williamson won two individual events each.
Heaven won the 200 IM (2:22.84) and 100 back (1:04.36), both record times; Allen won the 100 fly (1:05.12) and 500 free (5:41.56), also both meet record times, and Williamson won the 100 free (59.67, a meet record) and 100 breast (1:14.22).
Jamie Wellham of Canfield won the 50 free (meet-record 27.68) and Poland’s Becca Stewart won the 200 free (2:10.89) in meet-record time.
The 200 medley relay was won by Canfield’s Heaven, Williamson, Allen and Wellham in 2:01.42, a meet-record. Canfield’s Heaven, Briana O’Malley, Williamson and Allen also won the 400 free relay in 3:59.22, a meet record.
Poland’s 200 free relay of Maddie Evan, Kayleigh Lavorini, Stewart and Zoe Sommers won in a meet-record time of 1:50.03.
