Orientation and registration for the 2012 U.S. SARR Corps Academy class will take place at 10 a.m. next Sunday at the Wildflower Reserve Nature Center of Raccoon Creek State Park in Beaver County.
The academy offers a professional training program for the certification of a U.S. SARR Corps SARR Tech (Search, Rescue, Recovery Technician). This extensive training prepares the student in all aspects of search, rescue and recovery for locating missing people as an unpaid professional volunteer.

Woman, dog escape fire started by heater
YOUNGSTOWN
An electric heater caught clothes on fire causing damage to a St. Louis Avenue home.
Firefighters were called at 4:08 a.m. Saturday to a fire at 48 St. Louis Ave. Francis Adams, who lives in the house, escaped before firefighters arrived. But her dog was inside the home. Firefighters went inside and saved the dog.
The fire was contained to the bedroom. The fire department estimates damage at $1,300.
Firefighters say an electric heater in the bedroom caught nearby clothes on fire.

Genealogy workshop set in Youngstown

The Youngstown Historical Center Archives/Library 2012 Winter Workshop Series begins Saturday with “Intro to Genealogy at YHC Archives/Library.”
