STATE COLLEGE, Pa.

A three-way race for the Democratic nomination to seek the Pennsylvania attorney general’s office appears all but certain but without a party endorsement in the spring primary.

The Democratic State Committee on Saturday met to anoint candidates in statewide races, but none of the three candidates for attorney general was able to garner the two-thirds majority of votes by state committee members required for the endorsement in that race.

The candidates are former U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy of Bucks County, former Lackawanna County prosecutor Kathleen Kane and former Philadelphia prosecutor Dan McCaffery.

The party did, however, endorse re-election bids by U.S. Sen. Bob Casey and state Treasurer Rob McCord, as well as state Rep. Eugene DePasquale in his bid for state auditor general.

Primary elections in Pennsylvania will be April 24.
