POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty, Girard, Hubbard, Poland and Boardman townships:

LIBERTY

Jan. 4

Theft: Ladaisa Hester, 19, of 2561 Tyrell St., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of merchandise from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. She also was wanted by Youngstown police on a criminal-damaging charge.

Theft: A Stonington Drive woman reported the theft of 15 checks from an organization affiliated with St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Jan. 5

Harassment: A Madison Road woman reported having felt threatened by a neighbor she said was harassing her.

Arrest: Weathersfield police apprehended 27-year-old James L. Tingler Jr., 3510 Oakview Drive, Girard, who was wanted on a warrant from Girard Municipal Court accusing him of failing to appear in court.

Drugs: Police at a Motor Inn Drive motel charged Shana M. Fleming, 32, of 613 N. St. Clair Ave., Girard, with possession of crack cocaine, heroin, marijuana and dangerous drugs; and David C. Altman, 32, of 123 E. Broadway Ave., Girard, with receiving stolen property and three drug-related counts. Also arrested was William A. Cupan, 30, of 119 Olive St., Girard, on a warrant from Weathersfield Township. Found were 0.5 grams each of suspected heroin and crack cocaine, 3.4 grams of suspected marijuana, a suspected crack pipe and a pill bottle with no label, a report showed.

Jan. 6

Theft/damage: Someone pried open and damaged several mailboxes in the 4000 block of Monticello Boulevard. One homeowner said he believed some mail was missing.

Theft/disrupting public services: Someone in the 200 block of Warner Road used a hacksaw to cut then steal roughly 200 feet of phone cable valued at $2,000, which interrupted service to the area.

Arrest: Officers picked up 33-year-old Jeffrey L. Goldnar Jr. in Niles. Goldnar, of 397 Laird Ave. SE, Warren, was wanted by township authorities on a charge of failure to appear in court.

Jan. 7

Assault: A woman at a Belmont Avenue motel reported having been shoved in a room, knocked to the ground and struck and scratched on her face and neck.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 10 block of Louise Lane was found with scratches on its hood.

Jan. 8

Arrest: A traffic stop on Goldie Road resulted in the arrest of 23-year-old Chauncey V. Harris, 4151 Logan Gate Road, Liberty, on charges of driving under suspension and failure to appear in court.

Drugs: Authorities stopped a car on Motor Inn Drive, where they charged Masun D. Foster, 21, of 17 Holly Drive, Liberty, with possession of marijuana and having no operator’s license. A suspected marijuana cigar was found, a report said.

Drugs: Brodrick D. Boone, 38, of 2654 Taft Ave., Youngstown, faced a felony count of heroin possession after having been pulled over on state Route 193.

GIRARD

Jan. 4

Theft: Someone stole a $500 metal grate from the side of a building in the 20 block of East Liberty Street.

Jan. 5

Menacing: A Hazel Street woman told police a man has been harassing the accuser and her 7-year-old daughter via text messages.

Theft: An Indiana Avenue woman discovered $60 and several small items missing from her residence.

Vandalism: An East Main Street man found out someone had filled his vehicle’s gas tank with sugar.

Jan. 6

Arrest: Police responding to a vehicular accident in the 400 block of East Prospect Street charged 40-year-old Wendy S. Greene, 400 W. Seventh St., Weathersfield Township, with driving under the influence and failure to control her vehicle.

Jan. 7

Theft: Around $1,200 and an iPhone were missing from an apartment in the 500 block of Park Avenue.

Trespassing: A North Lorain Avenue man said four boys were on his property, possibly trying to break into his home.

Jan. 8

Theft: Eleven aluminum pipes and aluminum coil were removed from a residence in the 40 block of Stambaugh Street.

HUBBARD

Jan. 3

Harassment: A Saul Drive woman reported getting unwanted text messages and emails.

Menacing: An official with Reed Middle School, 150 Hall Ave., told police a student drew a picture that reportedly threatened a teacher.

Identity theft: A Mackey Street woman found out someone used her identity on Facebook.

Attempted fraud: A Dorchester Drive woman told officers a caller claiming to be her grandson asked her to send $1,500 to Canada after he had been arrested. The woman questioned the caller further before he hung up, a report showed.

Drugs: Police received information regarding possible drug sales on Taylor Street.

Theft: Officers arrested Georgette Allen, no information provided, after a bottle of aspirin was stolen from Dollar General, 886 W. Liberty St.

Menacing: An employee with Auto Zone, 420 W. Liberty St., reported a man caused a disturbance, in part by trying to persuade fellow employees to fight him.

Jan. 4

Criminal damaging: A woman in the 200 block of East Liberty Street found damage to her car.

Fraud: An East Liberty Street woman reported the fraudulent use of her bank account.

Jan. 5

Menacing: A township girl and her mother reported two people threatened and harassed the girl.

Drug paraphernalia: A manager with a West Liberty Street fast-food restaurant discovered a needle in the men’s restroom.

Jan. 6

Recovered property: A wallet containing a birth certificate was found in the 300 block of Parkview Drive.

POLAND

Jan. 2

Criminal mischief: Someone did $450 in damage to a mailbox in the 5900 block of Badal Drive.

Criminal mischief: A vehicle in a township driveway was damaged.

Jan. 3

Theft: A pack of cigarettes and $50 were missing from a car in the 8900 block of Woodland Drive.

Jan. 7

Breaking and entering: Police received several complaints about garages having been entered on New Castle Road. Property stolen included a four-wheel vehicle, a dirt bike and golf carts.

Recovered property: A stolen golf cart valued at $9,000 was found in a front yard in the 5300 block of New Castle Road.

BOARDMAN

Jan. 6

Harassment: A Brandon Avenue woman said her former boyfriend has made and sent a series of unwanted calls and text messages.

Domestic violence: Joseph F. Vaught Jr., 24, of 1974 Wolosyn Circle, Boardman, was picked up on a warrant after a family member alleged Vaught had punched her jaw and pushed her three times during an argument.

Citation: Jamie L. Hubler, 18, of 1245 Pleasant Valley Drive NE, Warren, was cited near Rockdale Avenue on a charge of marijuana possession.

Theft by deception: The U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested 39-year-old Raymond J. Tamburro, 13624 W. South Range Road, Salem, on a felony theft-by-deception charge. Tamburro was accused of stealing money from Foxy’s Auto Service Inc., 4200 Simon Road, and forging checks in an effort to defraud the business.

Jan. 7

Harassment: A Valley View Drive man said a family member made several threats toward him.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 7300 block of Bonnie Place through an unlocked window. Stolen was a $300 computer.

Harassment: An Appleridge Circle woman reported having received 28 unwanted calls.

Criminal damaging: Eggs were tossed several times at a residence in the 1400 block of Turnberry Drive, causing an estimated $300 in paint damage.

Assault: A man staying at a Market Street motel alleged the manager choked and tossed him to the ground during a dispute.

Counterfeit: A fake $50 bill was passed at Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 100 block of Lemans Drive was found with a damaged windshield.

Fraud: A Ewing Road woman reported having made a series of online purchases with her debit card totaling $314, then, while attempting to track the purchases, learning the website was phony.

Theft: Machelle D. Sydney, 30, of 253 Alameda Ave., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of a $40 pair of shoes from T.J. Maxx & More, 717 Boardman-Poland Road. She also was wanted on warrants from Liberty Township and Warren.

Arrest: A traffic stop on South Avenue resulted in 47-year-old Paula Franklin’s arrest. Franklin, of 510 North Ave., Girard, was wanted by Goshen Township police on charges of assault and criminal trespassing.

Theft: Melissa A. Kinkela, 43, of 912 Harvard Blvd., Youngstown, was charged with stealing a small container of wine and an energy drink from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: A woman reported her wallet stolen at a Tiffany Boulevard restaurant.

Menacing: A Youngstown man at a Market Street gas station reported another man made threats implying the accuser would be harmed or killed.

Criminal mischief: Feces were thrown against the door to an apartment in the 6300 block of South Avenue.

Theft: A woman reported the theft of her purse at a Boardman-Poland Road store.

Theft: Three iron grates were removed from an office building in the 5100 block of Market Street.

Jan. 8

Assault: A township man told police he was struck in the side of the head at a South Avenue restaurant. He had a cut to his left ear.

Criminal damaging: An Applecrest Court woman noticed a cracked bedroom-door frame.

Felonious assault: Authorities responded to a large fight at Boardman Township Park, 375 Boardman-Poland Road, and found a 15-year-old boy with a bloody nose before he reported having been punched several times.

Theft: Two pairs of men’s boots and two coats were stolen from Burlington Coat Factory, 529 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: A woman at a South Avenue eatery reported two coats and a cellphone stolen.

Breaking and entering: Forced entry was made through the side door to a garage in the 6000 block of Youngstown-Poland Road, though nothing appeared to be missing.

Citation: Police in the 900 block of East Western Reserve Road cited 20-year-old Marie Y. Casey, 49478 Moore Ave., East Liverpool, on a charge of public intoxication.

Jan. 9

Auto theft: A 1996 Pontiac Grand Am was stolen in the 40 block of Arlene Avenue.

Forgery: Someone tried to cash a fraudulent $798 payroll check at Checksmart, 112 Boardman-Poland Road.

Arrest: Pierre L. Bell, 25, of 137 Shields Road, Boardman, was charged with obstructing official business during a traffic stop on U.S. Route 224. Bell, who also was wanted on a traffic warrant, tried to drive away after having been pulled over, then refused to cooperate with police, they said.

Arrest: Officers picked up 27-year-old Jeremy J. Kibler in the 7500 block of Glenwood Avenue. Kibler, of 145 Northgate Ave., Warren, was wanted on a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court.

Identity fraud: An East Palestine man told police his daughter became a victim when her name was used without consent at St. Elizabeth Health Center’s Boardman Campus for insurance purposes.

Harassment: A worker for an East Western Reserve Road fast-food restaurant reported her former husband has continually made unwanted calls to her at work.

Robbery: A gunman in his early 20s wearing dark pants, a dark-blue coat with light-green stripes and a black ski mask grabbed an undisclosed sum of money from a vault at Family Dollar, 4030 Market St., and fled.

Jan. 10

Theft: Robert L. Littrell III, 23, of 273 Fairgreen St., Youngstown, was charged with stealing a $150 cellphone from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Vehicle theft: A 1995 Chevrolet Lumina van was stolen in the 4700 block of Southern Boulevard.

Counterfeit: A phony $50 bill was passed at Sam’s Club.

Aggravated menacing: Two people at a West Boulevard business told officers a man and a woman asked them to open a door, and that the man indicated he had a firearm.

Theft: A Poland woman reported her son dropped off a pair of shoes at a Boardman-Canfield Road store to be returned to another business and that the merchandise never reached its intended destination.

Criminal mischief: A witness reported having seen someone in an all-terrain vehicle damage a piece of township property near Rockdale and Centervale avenues.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a residence in the 60 block of Willow Drive and took a 10-inch table saw from the basement.

Harassment: An Afton Avenue man reported getting a series of such calls and text messages.

Theft: A license plate was stolen off a vehicle at a Market Street dealership.

Theft: Latonya L. Fowler, 32, of 451 Crandall Ave., Youngstown, was charged with stealing $451 worth of clothing from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road. Fowler also was wanted on a warrant from Liberty Township.

Jan. 11

Domestic violence: Shelly A. Rauschenbach, 45, of 4407 Hopkins Road, Boardman, was charged with the crime after her boyfriend alleged Rauschenbach had scratched his face several times during an argument.

Domestic violence: Authorities responding to an argument in the 4900 block of Brookwood Road arrested 28-year-old Corey K. Reese, 4910 Brookwood, on a felony charge after his girlfriend alleged an enraged Reese had dragged her from a vehicle by the hair and left her in a large puddle after an argument. Reese faced a felony count because of a prior conviction, a report showed.
