The Youngstown Phantoms Pee Wee hockey team participated in the third annual Winter Classic Dec. 23. The games were played on an outdoor rink at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh.

The Phantoms scored two goals in a 40-second span to seize a 3-1 lead en route to a 4-2 victory over the North Hills Predators.

Youngstown scored first on a hard shot by Danny Beistel (Canfield) midway through the first period for a 1-0 advantage. Assisting were Bo Gray (Boardman) and Lexi Stutz (Boardman).

Minutes later, the Predators knotted the game at 1-all on a penalty shot. All penalties in the game resulted in a penalty shot, rather than time in penalty box.

The Phantoms took a 20-1 lead on a goal by Gray, off a pass from Stutz. Forty seconds later, Youngstown padded its lead to 3-1 when Mike Fetsko (Boardman) scored off a rebound from the goalie. Devin Whitaker (Boardman) and Trey Imhoff assisted.

In the third period, Youngstown iced the game when Colin Faloon (Austintown) stole a Predator pass attempt and buried it in the back of the net to make it 4-1.

The Predators scored their second goal with about a minute remaining to get within 4-2.
