Thirty Fitch National Honor Society members traveled to the Covelli Center Dec. 10 for the Youngstown Phantoms game against the Chicago Steel.
The game was dedicated to the Akron Children’s Hospital Teddy Bear Toss. Members spent their own money on tickets for the event and came armed with stuffed teddy bears. As the Phantoms scored their first goal, NHS members tossed their 40 bears to the ice. All bears benefit patients at the Mahoning Valley hospital.
To further their holiday endeavors, National Honors Society members also actively sought donations for Koins for Kids, another Akron Children’s Hospital holiday drive, selling snowmen to put on display. Students raised $270 toward this cause.
