Canfield wins NEAC swimming title

The Canfield boys swim team won the Northeast Aquatic Conference championship on Jan. 7 during a meet in Wooster. The Cards defeated Boardman, Wooster, Warren Harding, Massillon Perry, Roosevelt, Glenoak and Massillon.
In the individual competition, Connor Brady took first in the 100-yard backstroke and Nicky Montalto placed first in the 100-yard free. Daniel Bogen finished second in the 100-yard free. Brady placed second in the 100-yard fly.
Montalto finished second in the 200-yard free and Drew Bennett took second in the 500-yard free.
In the relays, Bogen, Montalto, Michael DiDomenico and Mark Dalvin won the 400-yard free relay. Placing second in the 200-yard free relay was Brady, Bogen, Montalto and Dalvin.
Canfield coach Andrea Linnelli was named NEAC Championship Boys Coach of the Year.
The Canfield girls team placed third in the NEAC Championships. Sarah Heaven led the Cardinals by placing first in the 100-yard backstroke and fifth in the 100-yard free. Ally Chiu took first in the diving competition.
Mallory Allen took third in the 500-yard free and fourth in the 100-yard fly. Olivia Williamson placed fourth in the 100-yard individual medley.
Heaven, Williamson, Allen and Jamie Wellham took third in the 200-yard medley relay. Heaven, Leslie Davis, Williamson and Allen placed third in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
