Stocker drops out of commissioner race

Less than a week after failing to get the endorsement of the Mahoning County Democratic Party in a county commissioner race, Struthers Mayor Terry Stocker withdrew today as a candidate.

Stocker finished second among four candidates seeking the party’s endorsement Saturday. Stocker received 93 votes, 36.61 percent of the vote. The winner was Austintown Trustee David Ditzler with 137 votes, 53.94 percent.

With Stocker out, there are seven candidates running in the March 6 Democratic primary. Four candidates in the race didn’t seek the party’s endorsement.
