One dead, one injured in Warren shooting tonight

WARREN

Police are investigating a shooting Thursday on the city’s south side that killed one man and sent another to the hospital.

The victims were inside a van at the intersection of Hayes Avenue and Third Street around 8 p.m. when a gunman opened fire on the vehicle, police said.

One man bailed from the vehicle after being shot and was found dead by police near the intersection. Police are unsure if the bullet or the impact from jumping out of the vehicle killed him.

The driver, also wounded, drove to a gas station and called police.

From there, he was taken to St. Joseph Health Center, which was not releasing his condition tonight.

Police are not releasing the victims’ names. They do not yet know where the gunshot came from and have no suspects.
