Ohio gets C+ on national education report card

COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio’s education system earns a C+ on an industry publication’s national report card.

The state did better than the national average grade of a C in Education Week’s “Quality Counts 2012,” a report analyzing education performance and policies. Maryland got the best grade, a B+. South Dakota ranked last, with a D+.

States also earn individual grades in numerous categories. Ohio scored A’s for standards and school accountability, more average grades for school finance and the chance for student success, and two D+ grades for aspects of K-12 achievement.
