W. Pa. employee pleads guilty to $10 million fraud

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Authorities say a controller at a western Pennsylvania car dealer has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $10 million from the firm.

Patricia K. Smith, 57, of Cranberry Township transferred money from Baierl Acura of Wexford into her own account more than 800 times, prosecutors say in a statement issued today.

Authorities are seeking the forfeiture of numerous items that Smith bought, including three homes in Pennsylvania and one in Georgia, 10 vehicles, stocks, jewelry, gold coins, a mink coat, and a baby grand piano.

Sentencing is scheduled for early May.
