Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah co-star in the new movie “Joyful Noise,” which opens Friday. Though best-known as a country singer, Parton has appeared in a number of films in her career including:

“billy the kid — American experience” (9 p.m., pbs): “Billy the Kid: American Experience” tells the captivating story of a skinny orphan boy named Henry McCarty, who was born in the slums of New York City and went on to become an infamous outlaw in the Old West. The program features remarks by historians, writers and former New Mexico governor Bill Richardson.
“the game” (10 p.m., bet): Pop artist Brandy, best known for her starring role on “Moesha,” joins the cast of “The Game” as the hit sitcom launches its fifth season. She plays a “sassy bartender” who becomes a new love interest for Jason (Coby Bell).

Concert band in benefit show
CANFIELD
The Canfield Community Concert Band will present a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at Canfield High School to benefit Operation Blessing, which distributes food to area families in need. Housed at the Canfield Presbyterian Church, Operation Blessing is a volunteer group supported by members from all the churches in Canfield.
There is no admission charge for the concert but non-perishable food items and monetary donations will be accepted for Operation Blessing.
The concert, “Sacred Music for Wind Band,” will include “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and “Amazing Grace,” as well as “Russian Christmas Music,” “Canticle: All Creatures of our God and King” and “Once in David’s Royal City.” The band will also give a free concert at Shepherd of the Valley on Western Reserve Road in Poland at 7 p.m. Jan. 17.
Stambaugh Chorus opens its season
YOUNGSTOWN
Stambaugh Chorus, under the direction of Hae-Jong Lee, will begin its new season with a concert at 7 p.m. tonight in the ballroom at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave. Future performances will include the Messiah Sing-Along March 18 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church; and “Many Voices, One World” May 20 at Stambaugh Auditorium.
The chorus will accept new members through the month of January. For information, call 330-727-4502.
Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the ballroom at Stambaugh Auditorium through May.
Chef caught stealing

A celebrity chef apologized on his website Monday after he was caught shoplifting from a supermarket.
Antony Worrall Thompson was arrested Friday after reportedly stealing cheese and wine from a store in the posh riverside town of Henley-on-Thames, west of London.
Worrall Thompson has appeared on the daytime cookery show “Ready Steady Cook.”
