An informational meeting on an injection well on state Route 7, just north of the Pilot gas station, is planned at 6 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Beaver Township Administration Building, South Range Plaza, 11999 South Ave.

In the near future, the well will be receiving hazardous industrial wastewater from Pennsylvania, a byproduct of Marcellus/Utica shale fracking. Fracking is the process in which water, chemicals and sand are blasted into rocks thousands of feet below the ground to unlock natural gas and oil. The meeting is for discussion, education and possible action.

Associated Neighborhood Centers is hosting its Sixth Annual Citywide Baby Shower from 3 to 5 p.m. next Monday at McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road.

The event is for expectant parents and parents of children up to age 5. In addition to games and refreshments, health-care agencies and social-service professionals will provide information and answer questions on health for moms, babies and children. Support services for teen parents will be discussed. To register, call Renee Johnson at 330-744-4377 at McGuffey Centre by Wednesday. Child care will be provided for children age 3 to 5.
