Erika M. Thomas of Warren graduated with her doctorate in Communication from Wayne State University in Detroit last month.
Her dissertation was titled “Recognition of the Transgender Self: An Examination of the Apologia of ‘The Pregnant Man.’”
Thomas is a 2000 graduate of Howland High School, received her bachelor’s degree in 2004 from John Carroll University and her master’s degree in 2008 from Miami University. In August 2011, she was promoted to assistant professor in the Department of Human Communication Studies at California State University, Fullerton. She has been serving as the director of forensics at CSUF since August 2010.
LEADERSHIP
John A. McNally IV, chairman of the Mahoning County Commissioners, has been elected vice chairman of the Northeast Ohio Joint Office of Economic Development, which covers nine counties including Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana.
Summit County executive Russell Pry was elected chairman, and Ashtabula County Commissioner Joe Moroski was elected secretary of the board.
