An informational meeting on an injection well on state Route 7, just north of the Pilot Gas Station, is planned at 6 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Beaver Township Administration Building, South Range Plaza, 11999 South Ave.

In the near future, the well will be receiving hazardous industrial wastewater from Pennsylvania, a byproduct of Marcellus/Utica shale fracking.

Fracking is the process in which water, chemicals and sand are blasted into rocks thousands of feet below the ground to unlock natural gas and oil.

The meeting is for discussion, education and possible action.
