Frostbite race event to take place Thurs.

SHARON, PA.

Quaker Steak & Lube and nine other downtown businesses are gearing up for the 24th annual Frostbite Foodtaste Footrace, which will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Sponsors are Quaker Steak, Bud Light and Cumulus Radio station Y103.

During the “Taste of Sharon” portion of the fundraiser, each participating location will offer a free food taste and drink specials.

The $12 entry fee benefits the Prince of Peace Center’s Help Heat Homes Program.

The first 600 to sign up will get a free souvenir hat and a T-shirt.

Prizes will be awarded for race placement, best attire, best food critic, party pack and last place finisher.

Sign up at participating locations before Wednesday or at a party at Quaker Steak & Lube from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday.

Kelley-Robb-Cummins offers support group

Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home, 709 N. Main St., announces the beginning of the 45th series of Grief Recovery Instructional Support Groups, open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one.

The group will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning Jan. 17 at the Care Center, located next to the funeral home.

The sessions will be led by Philip Roland and are open to the public.

There is no cost or obligation for attending.

Card games return to Shepherd of Valley

POLAND

Monthly card games will begin again at Shepherd of the Valley-Poland, 301 W. Western Reserve Road.

Card players of all types are invited to play Jan. 25.

At 11:30 a.m., a buffet lunch will be served. Reservations are needed by Jan. 17 for the luncheon, which costs $6.

For those who opt for only the card games, decks will be shuffled at 1 p.m.
