Baby, 14 mos., is struck and killed by car

SALEM

A 14-month-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene after a car struck him on state Route 14 in Unity Township at 8:58 p.m. Friday.

The accident happened just west of state Route 165, which is about four miles northwest of Salem.

Police have talked to witnesses but still are investigating the accident, said a spokesman at the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lisbon post. Investigators aren’t prepared yet to say what led up to the child’s getting onto the road.

The driver of the car is Michelle A. Jones, 38, of East Palestine.
