BOARDMAN

A 39-year-old Salem man will be arraigned Tuesday on a charge of felony theft.

Raymond J. Tamburro was arrested by U.S. Marshals Thursday. He is accused of defrauding his former employer, Foxy’s Auto Service, 4200 Simon Road.

The owner of Foxy’s filed a report with Boardman police Dec. 8. In it, the owner said the business hired Tamburro in September to help run the business during a family emergency.

The owner said she checked the business bank account and discovered $4,200 in checks written over the previous 10 days, overdrawing the account, according to reports. She also noticed that deposits were down $26,000 from the previous month, police said.

The woman told officers that several employees were issued checks written for more money than they were supposed to receive and that Tamburro told them to go cash their checks and bring him the difference, with the explanation that this is how he was being paid, police said.

The owner also said money was missing from petty cash and estimated at least $1,000 was taken overall, reports state.

Tamburro posted his $2,500 bond Thursday.
