Hilltop Elementary School kindergartners had a big holiday surprise in store for their parents this year.

As a big secret, way back on Nov. 14, the students painted penguin ornaments as holiday gifts for their moms and dads. The Hilltop PTO invited Debbie Schiffhauer, co-owner of Blazed and Bedazzled, to come to the school to help the children create the gift. Schiffhauer brought all the supplies, including paints and brushes, the children would need and gave them instructions on how to paint the penguin ornament. Several PTO volunteers were on hand to help the children.

When the children were finished creating their holiday masterpieces, Schiffhauer took the ornaments back to Blazed and Bedazzled to fire them in the kiln. Schiffhauer then delivered the ornaments back to the school, where PTO volunteers wrapped them up for the students to take home.

The students were given the ornaments to take home on the last day before the school’s holiday break.

“This was something special the PTO wanted to do for the kindergartners. It was a fun event for them,” said Julie Miller, PTO volunteer.
