ABWA meeting Tuesday

The Mill Creek Chapter of American Business Women’s Association will host its meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Struthers at the Elm Tree Hall. Networking will start at 6 p.m. and dinner will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.

The buffet dinner will include baked chicken, stuffed cabbage, macaroni, salad, Haluski and dessert for $16.50. Guest speaker will be Kristen Gallagher representing Hands On Volunteer Network.

Christmas tree recycling program

Canfield residents may recycle their cut tree at the Canfield Township Fire Station, 5007 Messerly Road from now until Jan. 31. Remember to remove decorations. This is sponsored by the Recycling Division of Mahoning County and the Canfield Township Trustees.

Wrapping paper, greeting card recycling

Canfield residents can collect their wrapping paper and greeting cards in brown paper bags and deliver to the Canfield Township Recycling bin located behind the fire station at 5007 Messerly Road from now until Jan. 31. Remove ribbons and exclude foil wrap. This is sponsored by the Recycling Division of Mahoning County and the Canfield Township Trustees. Swimming and diving team hosts breakfast

The Canfield High School swimming and diving team is hosting a pancake breakfast tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Canfield High School Cafeteria.

Breakfast will include pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee, milk and orange juice. A donation of $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 3 to 10 will be accepted. All proceeds benefit the Canfield High School swimming and diving team.

Library hosts ‘Number 13’ contest

The Canfield library invites teens in grades 7-12 to celebrate Friday the 13th during library hours through the month of January. If you are lucky enough to answer 13 questions about the unlucky number 13, you could win a prize.

Taste hot chocolate at the library

The Canfield library invites teens grades 7-12 to warm up with a variety of hot chocolates on Jan. 19 at 2:30 p.m. Vote on your favorite and the library will post the results. Marshmallows are provided.

Library hosts Tales to Tails

The Canfield library will host “Tales to Tails” on Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m. Sign up to read to a registered therapy dog, which helps develop reading skills, promotes confidence and encourages a love of reading. Readers of all levels and abilities are welcome. Bring a book of your choice.

Dogs are provided by K-9 for Compassion, registered Delta society therapy dogs.

Lego My Library event set

The Canfield library invites children 6 and older to create Lego designs on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Legos will be provided.

Guess N’ Go at the library

The Canfield library invites all children to guess the number of items in the jar during library hours the month of January. The closes guess wins.

Enjoy Fun Times at the library

The Canfield library will host “Fun Time for 4s and 5s” on Tuesday Jan. 17, 24 and 31 at 1:30 p.m. The program will include developmentally-appropriate books, songs, rhymes, finger plays and other activities that will help children ages 4-5, become successful readers.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Library hosts Tales and Talk for 2s and 3s

The Canfield library will host “Baby Brilliant: Tales and Talk for 2s and 3s on Wednesday and Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. The program will include developmentally-appropriate books, songs, rhymes, finger plays and other activities that will help children, ages 2-3, become successful readers.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Rhythm and Motion at the library

The Canfield library will host “Baby Brilliant: Rhythm and Motion for 2s and 3s” on Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. The program consists of a variety of music, dance, song and special activities guaranteed to appeal to the young and restless. Activities include the use of props, musical instruments and imagination.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Bonding with Babies and Books

The Canfield library will host “Baby Brilliant: Bonding with Babies and Books” for babies 6-23 months on Monday at 10 a.m. The program will include developmentally-appropriate books, songs, rhymes, finger plays and other activities that will help your child become a successful reader. Children must be accompanies by an adult.
