Board of education swears in members of board of education

The Weathersfield school board swore in three board members — two newcomers and an incumbent — who will serve four-year terms.

Incumbent Tracey Thomas and new members Joshua Garris and Robert Palmer were sworn in Wednesday. Bruce Bacak was named board president for this year. Thomas was named vice president.

Former board member Debbie Moss did not seek re-election, and Marilyn Besoiu was defeated in November.

The board will continue to meet the third Wednesday of the month but has changed its meeting starting time to 7 p.m. except in June, July and August, when it meets at 10 a.m.

There will be a board work session at 5 p.m. Jan. 17, and the regular monthly meeting will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 18.
