A summary of police activity in the city of Canfield and Austintown:
CANFIELD
Dec. 9
Assault: Police charged a 17-year-old male student at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road, with assault after he reportedly used a stapler to put a staple in the back of a female student. The staple had to be removed from her skin, and she required a tetanus shot.
Dec. 29
Drug paraphernalia: Police charged Joseph Zaitzew, 18, of 753 Havenwood Drive, Boardman with drug paraphernalia, a multicolored glass pipe with marijuana residue in it on Lake Point Circle.
AUSTINTOWN
Dec. 26
Criminal trespassing: Police arrested Michael Kovac, 31, of 5936 Meander Reserve Court, for trespassing at a Burkey Road address.
Warrant: Police arrested Thomas Seitz, 45, of 203 S. Roanoke Ave., was arrested on a warrant for passing bad checks.
Burglary: A television was taken from a home in the 40 block of Atlanta Avenue.
Unauthorized use: A boyfriend has had a girlfriend’s car since April 2010 at a home in the 100 block of North Edgehill Avenue.
Burglary: A screen was cut and a purse was taken from an apartment in the 1000 block of Compass West.
Theft: An employee for BP service station is suspected of eating food, using drugs, drinking beer and stealing money at the station, 3602 Mahoning Ave.
Dec. 27
Theft: A window was broken and a GPS system was stolen from an auto parked in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.
Assault: A male was assaulted by three male suspects in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.
Theft: Money and jewelry were taken from a deceased relative at a home in the 4000 block of Burkey Road.
Assault: Two women assaulted each other at a home in the 100 block of Atlanta Avenue.
Theft: Police said there is a suspect in a theft at a home in the 1000 block of South Raccoon Road where a cellphone, snow blower and lock box with personal papers were taken.
Dec. 28
Burglary: There was no forced entry but personal property was taken from a home in the 1000 block of North Roanoke Avenue.
Theft: An Apple iPod was taken from an auto parked at a home in the 4000 block of Pine Trace.
Burglary: A snow blower was stolen from a home in the 3000 block of Artmar Drive.
Theft: Cash was paid for cookies that were never delivered at a home in the 1000 block of Bexley Drive.
Forgery: Checks were forged at First National Bank, 5632 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: A Pioneer charger and CDs were stolen from an unlocked car parked in the 100 block of Fairmeadow Drive.
Dec. 29
Drug offense: Police charged Marvin Murphy Jr., 29, of Northport, Ala., with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Aggravated burglary: Police charged Anthony DiVencenzo Jr., 29, of 5558 Mahoning Ave., Apt. 5, with the of a Playstation game console from an apartment in the 3000 block of Mahoning Avenue.
Criminal trespassing: Police charged Justin Wilson, 20, of 1959 Wakefield Ave, Youngstown, with the crime at an apartment in the 4000 block of Nantucket Drive.
Bad check: A check for $1,298 was returned for insufficient funds at Car Stereo Headquarters, 5462 Mahoning Ave.
Warrant: Police issued a warrant to James Durkin, 44, of 5202 Oakcrest Ave., for failure to appear on a driving-under-suspension charge.
Telecommunications harassment: The crime was reported by Huntington Bank, 1732 S. Raccoon Road.
Arrest: Police issued a summons to Andre Allie, 26, of 4139 Glenwood Ave., Apt. 6, Youngstown, on charges of possession of marijuana and a handgun in the 1000 block of Compass West.
Aggravated burglary: The victim was assaulted with a firearm in a burglary at an apartment in the 20 block of Wickliffe Circle.
Dec. 30
Fraud: Five unauthorized charges were made to a checking account at a home in the 2000 block of Spring Meadow Circle.
Warrant: Police issued a warrant to Keith Hawkes,34, of 16 N. Randolph Road, Girard, was on a theft charge.
Identity theft: A woman’s identity was used in an insurance scam at a home in the 100 block of North Yorkshire Boulevard.
Warrant: Police issued a warrant to Darrell Wiley, 26,of 2204 Canfield Road, No. 12, Youngstown, on charges of domestic violence at Meridian Road and Mahoning Avenue.
Obstructing official business: Police issued a warrant to Tiffany Bungard, 41,of 4504 Woodridge Drive, on charges of obstructing official business.
Theft: A GPS was taken from an auto parked at a home in the 5000 block of Clearfield Drive.
Dec. 31
Arrest: Police charged Tyler Karabin, 52, of 3947 Staatz Drive, with domestic violence.
Theft: A purse was taken from an auto parked at a home in the 1000 block of Northfield Drive.
Theft: A GPS and a purse were taken from an auto at a home in the 5000 block of Winslow Drive.
Theft: A tip jar containing $50 was stolen at Big Don’s, 4284 New Road.
Jan. 1
Felonious assault: Police charged Thomas Neapolitan, 25, of 1619 West Hampton Drive, with felonious assault, aggravated menacing and drug paraphernalia after his arrest in the 3000 block of Brandomyne Avenue.
Warrant: Police issued a warrant to Hale Burkholder, 32, of 4078 Evaline St. SE, Warren, for failure to appear on a traffic charge and an additional charge, marijuana possession, after his arrest in the 3000 block of Riblett Road.
Auto theft/recovered property: A vehicle was stolen at the Go Go Girls Cabaret, 5455 Clarkins Road, and was later recovered on Riblett Road.
Theft: Two cans of beer were taken by unidentified men at Pilot Oil, 1150 N. Canfield-Niles Road.
Theft: A radar detector and stereo faceplate were taken from an auto parked in the 5000 block of Yorktown Lane.
