Monthly sirens test

Hermitage, Pa.

The Hermitage Fire Department will conduct its monthly test of the area’s weather warning sirens at 10 a.m. Thursday.

The test will include activation of the Clark, Farrell, Sharpsville, West Middlesex and Wheatland weather sirens.

Citizens are asked to disregard the alerting sirens during the test.

Woman shot in leg

Police are investigating how a woman was shot in the leg at a Fruit Avenue residence.

Southwest Regional Police said Taysja Whitehead, 18, was shot in the right thigh at 11:46 p.m. Sunday after a gun discharged.

She was in a room with several other people at the time.

She was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Woman robbed

A woman was robbed of her purse at gunpoint, police said.

The robbery happened at 6:19 p.m. Sunday outside the woman’s home on Creed Street, police said.

The 34-year-old woman had just gotten out of her car.

Police detained a man found walking in the area, but he was not the robber.
