MCKEES ROCKS, Pa.

Authorities in western Pennsylvania have identified two men killed in a three-alarm blaze in a Pittsburgh suburb on the last day of the year.

Officials say the blaze was reported at 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the building housing Gino’s Tavern in McKees Rocks.

The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office says 77-year-old Gino’s owner Egidio Mattucci was killed along with 63-year-old Daniel Carr.

Both lived above the bar.

Officials said Mattucci died of smoke and soot inhalation and thermal injuries, and the cause of Carr’s death remains under investigation.

A third person managed to escape but was treated for minor burns.

McKees Rocks Fire Chief Nicholas Radoycis Jr. said the blaze started in the basement of the building.

The cause remains under investigation.
