Phantoms fall to Ice again

INDIANAPOLIS

The Youngstown Phantoms closed 2011 with Saturday’s 3-0 loss to the Indiana Ice.

Goals by John Doherty and Robert Polesello staked the Ice to a 2-0 lead in the first period.

Sean Kuraly, who assisted on Doherty’s goal, scored in the third period as the Phantoms lost twice to the Ice in two nights. Robbie Baillargeon assisted on two goals.

Ice goaltender Jon Gillies stopped 24 shots for the shutout. Phantoms netminder Matthew O’Connor stopped 29 shots.

Indiana (17-7-4, 38 points) remains in second place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference, four points ahead of the Phantoms (16-8-2).
