Canfield grad gets degree

Dr. Michael Turjanica, formerly of Canfield, earned his doctor of chiropractic medicine degree in December from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida.

Dr. Turjanica is a 2003 graduate of Canfield High School and a 2008 graduate of Youngstown State University, where he also played baseball. He begins a position this month with Chiropractic and Physical Therapy Centers of Ohio in Grove City, Ohio.

He is the son of Joseph and Nancy Turjanica of Canfield.

SCOUTS

Hubbard scout earns Eagle

Nathan Cummings, a son of William and Cathy Cummings of Hubbard, has earned his Eagle Scout Award, Boy Scouting’s highest honor. His court-of-honor ceremony was at Churchill United Methodist Church in Liberty.

Nathan was a Cub Scout with Pack 100 in Hubbard, where he earned his Arrow of Light Award, Cub Scouting’s highest honor, in March 2005. He joined Boy Scout Troop 42 the same month.

He has earned 31 merit badges and the Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius X11 religious awards in addition to several other scouting honors.

In Troop 42, he has had these positions: assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, librarian, scribe, chaplain aide, historian and den chief.

For his Eagle Scout service project, he conducted a clothing drive. The new and gently used clothes were then sorted and distributed to local missions and shelters. He collected more than $5,000 in clothing for the needy.

Nathan is a senior at Hubbard High School, where he is in the marching band, wind ensemble, French, drama and ecology clubs. He also is involved in Students Against Destructive Decisions. He and his family are members of St. Patrick Church, Hubbard.
