Local author takes first place in contest

Julie Arduini, a Boardman writer with 12 contributing-author book credits, is the first-place winner of the JournEzine 6th Annual Christmas Contest.
JournEzine is an online Christian magazine, and the theme of this year’s contest was “Emmanuel, God is With Us.”
Arduini’s story, “The Dollar Store Statue,” which honors military families who have lost loved ones to the war, is featured in the December issue of the magazine. There also is a free download of all contest entries available.

The author has been writing since 2007 and is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers. Book discussions scheduled at library
LEETONIA
The Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St., will have a morning group book discussion at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The title selected for this session is “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” by Barbara Robinson.
The nonfiction group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 11. Members will discuss “What Does China Think?” by Mark Leonard.
