The ROC of Salem seeking used sneakers

SALEM — The ROC of Salem is seeking donations of gently used sneakers in an effort to raise funds for the center.

The ROC is a youth center for students ages 14-20.

Special sneaker-collection nights are from 7 to 10 p.m. March 9 and March 10. Shoes may also be dropped off during The Roc’s regular hours, 7 to 10 p.m. each Tuesday and Saturday.

Shoes should not contain holes larger than a dime, must have the soles and backs intact and must include the laces.

The shoes collected will be reused as affordable footwear for people in need around the world, raise funds for The ROC, and help support jobs in Third World countries.

The ROC is partnering with Green Sneakers for the shoe drive.

The ROC hopes to collect 1,000 pairs of sneakers.
