2 teens charged in Pa. bicyclist attack
READING, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say they’ve filed assault charges against two teens over a confrontation with a Pennsylvania bicyclist who shot and wounded one of teens and killed a third.
Prosecutors say one of the charged teens is on house arrest while recovering from a bullet wound to his neck sustained in the Jan. 25 robbery of a bicyclist on a popular riverfront biking path in Cumru Township, Berks County.
District Attorney John Adams says the bicyclist acted in self-defense when he opened fire, killing 16-year-old Julius Johnson.
The Reading Eagle reported today the two charged teens await juvenile court hearings scheduled for next week.
Adams said the attack on the bicyclist was the teens’ third robbery attempt in about an hour.
