Fashion show will spotlight American girls all dolled up
YOUNGSTOWN
American Girl Fashion Show events are scheduled for April 28 and 29 at Stambaugh Auditorium, and models are being sought for show times of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day.
The shows, presented by Kids’ Crew of Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, will support local programs and services of the hospital. “Model calls” for girls who want to model in the shows will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and March 10 in the hospital’s Community Room, in Building C on the Beeghly Campus, 6505 Market St., Boardman. Girls must be accompanied by a parent and need to attend only one model call.
Models will be chosen based on poise, confidence, stage presence and resemblance to an American Girl doll. Visit www.americangirl.com to view the dolls.
The American Girl Fashion Show combines education, fashion and goodwill. Matching outfits for girls and their dolls are featured as the audience enjoys the interactive showcase of historical and contemporary fashions.
The clothing resembles what American Girl characters Kaya, Josefina, Addy, Rebecca, Kit, Molly and Julie might have worn. Contemporary “My American Girl” outfits for older girls and Bitty Baby fashions for little ones complete the program.
As local models present the fashions, lively commentary, music and decorations will create a memorable experience for girls and their families.
Models must be a size 10 or 6x in order to wear the clothing provided by American Girl. There will be a limited number of opportunities for girls of other sizes, but models must buy their own outfit from a list of pre-approved selections.
To receive an application packet and registration materials, as well as to order tickets for the event at $30 each, call 330-746-8712 or visit www.akronchildrens.org/americangirl. Models will be required to pay a $25 registration fee and must be available for fittings March 31 as well as rehearsals April 22 and 27, in addition to the assigned show time.
The fashion show events will feature refreshments, a tea party theme, favors, door prizes and raffles featuring American Girl merchandise.
Sponsorships, program book ads and VIP family tables also are available.
