Argus Lodge 545 F.&A.M. recently honored Brother Denny Furman with the E. Tom Brown Memorial Award.

The award was established to honor those who have given “service above self” to the principles of Freemasonry and have been “ambassadors” of Argus Lodge.

Furman has coached and educated many of the group’s new members, is the Lodge photographer and has served as the education officer for the past five years. He is a 32nd-Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite, member of the York Rite and has been knighted as a Knight Templar.

He is a board member and photographer of the Berlin Ellsworth Ruritan, member of the Salem Eagles, Berlin Historical Society, lifetime member of the NRA and retired officer of the Berlin Center Fire Dept.

Furman graduated from South High School and Choffin Vocational School in 1970. He and his wife, Mary Jo, live in Berlin Center, where they own and operate Denny’s Auto Supply, which he founded in 1976.

Argus Lodge is part of the 24th Masonic District, which comprises 26 Lodges in four Ohio counties, with roughly 6,500 members.
