Democratic Club announces endorsements

The Mahoning Valley Democratic Club has announced its endorsements for the March 6 primary election. All unopposed Democratic candidates were unanimously endorsed by the club.

The countywide club broke ranks with the official Mahoning County Democratic Party by endorsing incumbent Paul Gains for prosecutor and Walter Pishkur for county commissioner. The party officially endorsed Jay Macejko and David Ditzler, respectively, for those posts.

Selections were made at the club’s meeting last week. The next meeting is set for April or May and will be in Poland.

All Democrats in the Mahoning Valley are invited to join the club. The club is a grass-roots effort to inform the public on government operations and candidates running for office.

The following is a list of those receiving club endorsements:

County treasurer: Dan Yemma.

County engineer: Patrick Ginnetti.

7th District Court of Appeals: Attorney Mark Hanni.

County recorder: Noralyn Palermo.

58th District state representative: Robert Hagan.

59th District state representative: Ron Gerberry.

County commissioner 1/2/13 term: Anthony Traficanti.

County commissioner 1/3/13 term: Walter J. Pishkur.

County sheriff: Jerry Greene.

County prosecutor: Attorney Paul Gains.

State Central Committee: Joyce Kale Pesta.
