Man dies in fire

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Firefighters are investigating an early Saturday morning blaze that killed a man.

Crews responded around 5:30 a.m. to a house in the 300 block of Phillips Street on the city’s South Side. The house had two apartments, one upstairs and one downstairs.

The man who died had lived upstairs. His identity was not released Saturday.

A couple living downstairs made it out of the house.

Man’s body found in Neshannock Creek

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Emergency crews pulled the body of a 57-year-old man from Neshannock Creek shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday.

The man’s identity hasn’t been released. He was found in the area of the creek between the Grove Street and Mill Street bridges, officials said.

St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Villa Maria Road, will have its spring cleanup March 15.

All Christmas decorations should be removed before then or they will be discarded.

Canfield cemeteries

Canfield

Christmas decorations must be removed from all cemeteries in Canfield by March 15.

City officials are requesting that any decorations left over from the holidays be retrieved.

Anything left in the after that date will be discarded.
