New Castle man dies in house fire today

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Firefighters are investigating an early Saturday morning blaze that killed a man.

Crews responded around 5:30 a.m. to a house in the 300 block of Phillips Street on the city’s South Side.

The house had two apartments, one upstairs and one downstairs. The man who died had lived upstairs. His identity was not released Saturday.

A couple living downstairs made it out of the house.
