Niles kindergarten registration/screening for all Niles school district students and eligible open-enrollment students will be by appointment only March 26, 27 and 30 at Jackson Elementary School, 522 Emma St. Kindergarten registration packets are available between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the school or may be downloaded at www.nilescityschools.org. Columbiana Exempted Village Schools kindergarten registration will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. March 5 through March 7. Call 330-482-5355, ext. 34506, for an appointment. The following items are required: official birth certification, Social Security card, immunization record, custordy papers if applicable, proof of residencey in the district. Expect to stay for an hour. Open enrollment applications must begin at the superintendent’s office, 700 Columbiana-Waterford Road, and be completed before kindergarten screening/registration day.

Howland children who will be age 5 on or before Sept. 30 are eligible to be registered for kindergarten for the 2012-13 school year. Parents are requested to go to the building of attendance (Glen or Springs) between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. next week to complete the required paperwork. Parents must bring the following information with them when registering a child: a state-certified copy of the child’s birth certificate, the child’s immunization record, custody/guardianship documentation (if applicable), Social Security card (to be copied and returned), proof of residence and a copy of current IEP/MFE information (if applicable). No appointments are necessary.

St. Rose, Girard, is accepting registration for kindergarten through eigth grade. A $50 registration fee is required. Call the school at 330-545-1163 to secure registration material or to schedule a tour. Students entering first through eighth grades, may call the school office to set up a shadow day. The school is an Ohio Education Choice Scholarship (voucher) participating school. The school offers busing from Girard, McDonald and Liberty. Before- and after-school programs are available through Sunny Days Day Care and Pre-School in the school building. Kindergarten screening is scheduled for Friday.
