A love bug came to bite the students at Stadium Drive Elementary on Feb. 14, as the school celebrated Valentine’s Day with room-by-room parties.
Celebrations included food, fun and games. Many students brought intricately-designed Valentine’s boxes to hold the gifts, candies and notes handed out by their classmates.
In Lisa Gomun’s third-grade classroom, students took time to appreciate the good of the holiday.
“My favorite part of Valentine’s is getting a big pile of candy,” said third-grader Bailey Verde.
“I like telling my friends that I love them on Valentine’s Day. But I try and tell them that I love them every day,” added Gianna Chetsko.
The morning of their Valentine’s celebrations, Stadium Drive officials stressed the importance of kindness during morning announcements.
However, guidance counselor Jen Carey saidthe lesson about kindness is no different than any other morning.
“Every day, we try and teach the students the importance of respecting others. Although it’s especially important during this holiday that celebrates love and friendship, I think that kindness is important year-round at Stadium Drive,” Carey said.
