Love was in the air at Poland Presbyterian Church on Feb. 12, as the church celebrated its annual Valentine’s Dinner.
The event is one of the many activities offered by the church’s Parish Life committee.
“Our Valentine’s Dinner offers church fellowship and a chance for everyone to get together and celebrate the beauty of love. And it’s all kinds of love – we have long-time couples, young families and families of many generations, and our teen youth group iGnite enjoying themselves tonight,” said Parish Life Committee member Mike Simington.
Simington said events like the Valentine’s Dinner provide further funding for other Parish Life initiatives like Mother’s Day and Lenten dinners and the church’s Strawberry Festival.
Guests at the dinner were each given a free ticket they could use in a basket raffle of all donated items, making the raffle a no-cost chance for fun.
Food provided by parish members was enjoyed by all.
Parish Life member Jan Harper began the dinner in 2007 because of her preference for Valentine’s Day.
“I love that families can get together and have great fun. Celebrating love makes for a great holiday and everyone looks good in red,” Harper said with a smile.
