Kindergartners and first-graders at Watson Elementary celebrated the fun of puppy love during their Feb. 14 Valentine’s Day parties.

The entire school celebrated the holiday of all things love, with the younger students enjoying their soirees in the morning, and the second- and third-graders in the afternoon.

Each classroom was visited by PTA volunteers who provided food, games, and crafts for the students to enjoy before handing out their Valentines.

Tamara Deeley and her kindergarten students played a match-up game to start off their celebrations, where students were given an animal to impersonate and had to find their match among their classmates.

Deeley’s class also enjoyed an ice cream sandwich treat and did an art project crafted of hearts.

Across the hall, Michelle Bilas created “love bugs” out of egg cartons with her kindergartners.

When it was time for Debbie Calcagni’s kindergarten students to give away their Valentines, they gave out small notes along with pencils, stickers, games, and one student even offered cologne samples.

“For our class, Valentine’s Day is all about spending time with each other and enjoying crafts, games, and stories. We also make Valentines for our ‘big siblings’ in Mrs. [Jill] Groat’s room,” explained Calcagni.

There was no doubt that Cupid’s arrows had done their work at Watson after the Feb. 14 celebrations.
