Canfield swimmers advance to state meet

Six members of the Canfield boys swimming and diving team will competing in this weekend’s state tournament after qualifying during last weekend’s Northeast Ohio Districts Division II Championships at Cleveland State.
Daniel Bogen advanced to state in four different events. In the individual events, Bogen he took third place in the 200-yard free and sixth in the 100-yard free. Bogen was part of the 200-yard free relay team that placed fourth and the 400-yard free relay team that also placed fourth.
Placing fourth along with Bogen and qualifying for state in the 200-yard free relay, were Connor Brady, Mark Dalvin and Nick Montalto.
State qualifiers in the 400-yard free relay were Mike DiDomenico, Montalto and Dalvin.
Connor Brady was another top swimmer for Canfield. Not only did Brady qualify for state along with his 200-yard free relay teammates, but Brady qualified in two individual events. Brady took fifth in the 100-yard fly and eighth in the 100-yard backstroke.
Canfield boys Adam Weiss, Jake Smith, Brady and DiDomenico placed eighth in the 200-yard medley relay. Drew Bennett took ninth in the 500-yard free.
On the girls team, diver Ally Chiu placed 20th in the diving portion of the competition. Sarah Heaven took 16th in the 100-yard backstroke and 19th in the 200-yard individual medley.
Placing 12th in the 200-yard medley relay were Heaven, Olivia Williamson, Mallory Allen and Briana O’Malley.
