Boardman junior high wrestlers place EOWL
Both Boardman middle school wrestling teams ended their season with a good showing at the Eastern Ohio Wrestling League tournament (EOWL).
Combined, the Spartans put 13 wrestlers on the podium, including one champion and MVP.
Boardman Glenwood wrestlers continued to show their improvement with six placers. Glenwood’s Matt Maroni, Conner Kochansky and Nick Patoray placed sixth. AJ Pantaleo and Tyler Dempsey each pinned their final opponent to earn fifth place. Danny Boerio placed fourth, the highest for Glenwood, and led the team in wins (26) and pins (17).
Boardman Center had seven wrestlers earn top six honors at the tournament. Placing for Center were Torrey Baker, sixth; Vito Marzano and Caeden Rogers, fifth; Logan Blair and Erick Ritz, fourth and Carlo Deniro and AB Al-Halamen, third.
Center’s Mario Graziani was the tournament champion in the 110-pound weight class and also crowned the Most Valuable Wrestler. Graziani led his team with a record of 32-1.
