Partial settlement made over Ohio Civil War items

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Ohio cousins feuding over ownership of Civil War artifacts have reached an agreement allowing the items to be displayed at a commemorative event this spring.

The agreement between Timberlake resident Albert Ward and Linda Schwartz of Perrysburg doesn’t settle the bigger issue of who has more of a right to the items.

The Blade in Toledo reports today the two have agreed to let Schwartz take items belonging to Sgt. Wilson W. Brown to Kennesaw, Ga., April 12 and 13 for events commemorating the 150th anniversary of a well-known war raid.

The items include two Congressional Medals of Honor and a key from a Confederate prison that belonged to Brown, a northwest Ohio man who took part in the raid.

Schwartz’ attorney gets custody of the items until then.
