Mahoning commissioners reject labor deal with auditor's office workers

YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County commissioners today voted to reject a proposed three-year labor contract for 23 workers in the county auditor's office who belong to AFSCME Local 2533.

John A. McNally IV, chairman of the commissioners, and Commissioner Anthony Traficanti voted to reject the tentative agreement with the union members in Auditor Michael Sciortino's office. The members of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees voted to ratify the pact Dec. 12.

Commissioner Carol Rimedio-Righetti abstained from the vote because her brother, Robert Rimedio, chief appraiser in the auditor's office, is a union member.
