Commercial Metal Forming workers get new pact

YOUNGSTOWN — United Steelworkers Local 2332-1, which represents about 95 workers at Commercial Metal Forming, has ratified a new contract.

“The deal was ratified overwhelming,”said Jose Arroyo, unit president. “The workers were extremely pleased with the package.”

Commerical Metal Forming makes tank heads and custom stampings at its Logan Avenue location on the North Side.

The 41-month agreement, which runs through June 2015, will increase the average hourly base wage from $18.50 per hour to $19.60 per hour, a 2 percent increase per year.

The previous contract had expired at the end of January.

Workers maintained a 90 percent-10 percent insurance co-pay and also received increases in pension, sick and accident benefits and shoe allowances.

USW Local 2332-1 is amalgamated with the union that represents workers at nearby Parker Hannifin Corp., which plans to close its foundry in the next 15 months.

Workers at Commercial Metal Forming are not affected by the closure.
